The Tenth Edition of CIRKULIACIJA and Its Festivities
This year, CIRKULIACIJA celebrates its tenth anniversary.
It is hard to believe how a sudden love for the performing arts has taken us to so many places over the years: to theatres and public spaces, to cities and small towns alike. We have presented internationally renowned artists as well as emerging talents, introducing contemporary circus both to new audiences and to those who have been following the art form for years. And throughout this journey, we have never stopped asking ourselves where the boundaries of contemporary circus truly lie.
In short, there is much to celebrate.
This year’s programme is dedicated to FESTIVITIES – the joy of creating, sharing, and experiencing contemporary circus. Audiences will encounter world-renowned artists and acclaimed productions, alongside brand-new premieres. Some creators will return to the festival, while others will be joining us for the very first time. The ever-growing community of Lithuanian contemporary circus artists will present four completely new works. To mark this anniversary, we will also welcome international guests and professional networks from across Europe.
It will be a celebration of contemporary circus in all its forms – from professional gatherings and future plans to new discoveries and fresh inspirations.
“I would like to congratulate the entire team, every artist who has been part of this festival, and every audience member who has experienced contemporary circus with us. I would especially like to congratulate Lithuanian creators, who are appearing more and more frequently not only on international stages but also across Lithuania.
An incredible amount has been achieved over these ten years – and this is only the beginning. The next steps are clear: Lithuania needs a dedicated contemporary circus venue and a circus school. Experience from other countries shows that these elements, together with sustainable funding, are among the most important drivers of growth in the field.
In another ten years, we will see just how much bigger, more diverse, and freer our contemporary circus community has become.” — Gildas Aleksa, Artistic Director of the Festival.
The 10th edition of the International Contemporary Circus Festival CIRKULIACIJA, themed FESTIVITIES, will take place from 5–22 November in Anykščiai, Kaunas, Naujoji Vilnia, Prienai, Tauragė, and Vilnius.
Tickets are already on sale. We invite you to explore the programme, discover our guests, create your own festival journey, and celebrate with us.
